Year of the Heartbreak

Being apart of the entertainment scene around Dallas, you meet a lot of fascinating people.  The Urban Advocate has been moving through the city for the past year and I personally have been navigating my way through the Metroplex for the past two years.  In that time, I’ve had the opportunity to meet a lot of movers and shakers around time.  There’s one young man in particular whose name rings bells across the entertainment scene in Dallas.  I first became familiar with the name across the internet; that is until I met the charismatic brother face to face at The Lounge in November of 2009.  He’s a rising music and entertainment executive, working as a promoter, event host, radio personality, entrepreneur & philanthropist.  So, in case you’re not familiar with the name, allow me to introduce you to Vincent “Young Heartbreak” Tucker.

Vincent Tucker was born in June 1983 in Dallas, TX.  He was raised by his mother and father (who worked as a financial analyst and a truck driver, respectively).  Though now it may seem as if Vincent is living a story book life, he didn’t get to this point without having to overcome a few obstacles.  Vincent had to earn his moniker “Young Heartbreak”.  I’m ‘Young Heartbreak’ because I came from the bottom,” he declares.  “I went through things that would have given the average kid or teenager heartache and heartbreak. I’m ‘Young Heartbreak’ because I went through the trials and tribulations and I’m still here!”  Vincent has endured many hardships throughout his life including a house fire that killed his grandparents and his sister, deaths of childhood friends, his parents’ drug addiction and being abandoned by them when he was just 13 years of age.  The trials that would stop anyone else in their tracks instead motivated Vincent.  Being profoundly influenced by industry executives, Vincent followed the careers of heavyweights like Russell Simmons, Jermaine Dupri, and Sean Combs.  Using their stories as motivation, Vincent Tucker set out make a name for himself in the industry.

In the past few years, Vincent Tucker has established himself as someone to be taken seriously.  Shortly after leaving the President post at an independent record label in Dallas, he founded CWC Entertainment, L.L.C., began holding artist showcases and working with the likes of Slim Thug, Killer Mike, and Devin the Dude.  But in December of 2007, Vincent Tucker was given his own weekly show on 360 D Radio Online Network, The Vincent Tucker Radio Show.  The radio show is now syndicated by a number of online radio stations, and was recently added to the line-up on the Fishbowl Radio Network.  Aside from being a music executive and a radio personality, Vincent is also a philanthropist.  He has donated his time and efforts to help raise money and awareness for causes such as Breast Cancer, AIDS and Diabetes.  In 2008, Vincent was named the Dallas / Fort Worth Street Team Leader for the Rock the Vote campaign and helped the organization register upwards of 2 million new voters.  Vincent has not only been working as a business man and humanitarian, but he has also been hosting events and will make his film debut in “The Bridge” due to drop in fall of 2010.  “Since I was 11, I've only wanted to do two things: become a successful music & entertainment executive and give back to my community,” he declares.  It appears that Vincent is living out his boyhood dreams.

Vincent Tucker has had to overcome a lot of obstacles throughout his life.  Watching his family structure collapse before his eyes and growing in an environment where many peers didn’t make it out of didn’t stop Vincent from achieving his goals in life.  He exudes tenacity, ambition and has established himself as a legitimate force in the entertainment field.  Vincent Tucker isn’t done by far, but 2010 is the year of the “Heartbreak”.
